30’s
and 40’s The earliest known postcard dates back to approximately 1932. It was taken on the occasion of the arrival of a new bell, a major event in the life of the own. The bell, weighing two tons, was brought by railway and greeted by the local townspeople who transported it on foot to the Church of San Rocco. The postcard is of special significance for my branch of the family since it features my father, Adolfo Castrilli, as one of the youngsters pulling on the ropes. My cousin, Maria De Silvio, who gave me the postcard, highlighted my father with a red mark.
